Literature Text

I drive at night with headlights low
Beneath the simmer of the skies
Reflecting light with dull surprise--
No static here, no radio
And far away the cities show
The silver screens of purring lies,
And fill the clouds with bleeding glow.

Above the silver humming hood
The bloody moon in cruciform
Still silent if you have the ear
No static now to judge it good
Behold now that, like Lazarus,
Beauty rises here.
Better title? I need one.

I wrote an Italian Sonnet...
Mm. topic was "beauty". I chose Divine Beauty, I suppose, since I've been reading some Keats lately.

I don't know if any of you know this, but I love to drive at night with the headlights off. You can only do it for a minute at a time if you don't want to get run over, but they're wonderful minutes. You see things.

Nature is beautiful, but the works of mankind have a peculiar gothic beauty to them as well.

Critique is welcome. I have a notion of what it'll be already, but we'll see if I'm right.
